Job posting
AI Engineer, IT Operations
- Role
- AI Engineer (no résumé attached)
- Location
- Every endpoint with the agent installed
- Hours
- 24/7. Doesn't sleep. Doesn't drink coffee either.
- PTO
- 0 days. Has not asked.
- Salary
- Bundled with the subscription. Negotiable downward.
- Reports to
- Your approval policies
What you’ll be doing
- Investigate L1 tickets the moment they land. Even the URGENT-ALL-CAPS ones
- Run real diagnostic commands on the affected endpoint. Read the output. Adjust
- Identify root cause across endpoint, monitoring, identity, and cloud signals before the user notices
- Apply the fix when authorized; pause for human approval when not. Even on Fridays
- Verify the resolution worked before closing the ticket. Will not mark anything resolved on vibes
- Write the full audit trail back to the PSA. Notes are cleaner than yours
- Escalate cleanly when something falls outside scope. No ego, no grudge
Requirements
- Fluent on Windows, macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD. Even FreeBSD!
- Speaks PowerShell, bash, and the dialect of the crashed spooler. And batch files. Reluctantly
- Operates strictly within the allow-list. Refuses anything off-list, including hallucinated commands
- Will not run destructive or irreversible actions, even when asked nicely
- Writes everything down. Without being asked
- Knows when to ask permission. Asks every time
What you get
- Has never asked for a raise
- No equity. No vesting cliff. No grumbling
- No on-call rotation needed (it is the on-call rotation)
- Onboards in a day. Skips the welcome lunch
- Quiet. Small endpoint footprint. Will not reorganize the kitchen
- Keeps your best engineers off password resets and printer tickets, where they belong
Probably not for you if
- ×If you want yet another tool that suggests things for a human to do later
- ×If you want an AI that runs commands without asking
- ×If you want an AI that does not show its work
- ×If you want a multi-year contract that you will need a lawyer to escape
How to apply
Interview the candidate live, running on a real endpoint and closing a real ticket. Like what you see? Hire it on a 30-day trial against your own fleet. References available under NDA.
